MOTHER BANJO

Featuring Ellen Stanley on banjo and vocals, Mother Banjo is a New England-raised, Minneapolis-based songwriter. Called “an outstanding poet” (Inside Bluegrass), she was a Midwest Finalist for the prestigious NewSong Contest and has been featured nationally on SiriusXM Radio and CMT.com. Her new album Eyes on the Sky artfully mixes her signature blend of folk, bluegrass and soulful Americana that has become a hallmark of her live shows. Whether performing solo or with her award-winning band, she is an engaging performer that brings a playful energy to the stage (even a virtual one!). In addition to performing, she is a longtime DJ, publicist and arts organizer. During this time of corona, she has made it her mission to support working musicians through her weekly Back Catalog Listening Party, which she hosts with fellow banjo-playing songwriter Anthony Ihrig (of The High 48s). Every Friday at 4 pm CST, they host a live happy hour on YouTube, where they dig into their favorite records and talk with artists about their songs. Fans join the party online, listening to the songs and asking questions. Guests have included Grammy-winning folk and Americana acts and local favorites like Trailer Trash, The Roe Family Singers, Pert Near Sandstone and more.
